H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan has served as Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence since October 2017, joining the Federal Government in 1990. In July 2020, his ministry was expanded to the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, reflecting the UAE's deepened commitment to global harmony.
Throughout his distinguished career, His Highness has held multiple ministerial portfolios including Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Minister of Education, and Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development. His academic leadership spans decades, having served as Chancellor of UAE University (1983-2013), Chancellor of Higher Colleges of Technology (1988-2013), and President of Zayed University (1998-2013).
In February 2025, His Highness received the inaugural Emirati Day for Education Award, acknowledging his lifelong commitment to advancing education and human development.
As Commissioner General of Expo 2020 Dubai, His Highness demonstrated exceptional leadership in delivering a transformative global platform that welcomed over 24 million visitors and showcased innovation, sustainability, and human collaboration.
His current portfolio extends beyond ministerial duties to include significant involvement with the UAE's premier educational initiatives. He serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Khalifa Award for Education, the UAE's most prestigious recognition for educational excellence globally.
